ΜΑΡΙΑ ΣΗΦΙΑΝΟΥ

Ομότιμη Καθηγήτρια του ΕΚΠΑ. Οι τομείς ειδίκευσής της είναι η εθνογραφία της επικοινωνίας, η κοινωνιογλωσσολογία, η ανάλυση λόγου και η διαπολιτισμική επικοινωνία. Τα ερευνητικά της ενδιαφέροντα εστιάζουν στην ανάλυση θεμάτων διαπολιτισμικής επικοινωνίας και ευγένειας στον λόγο. Οι δημοσιεύσεις της περιλαμβάνουν τo βιβλίο Politeness Phenomena in England and Greece (Oxford University Press, 1992/1999/2002) και πρόσφατα άρθρα όπως: (1) The impact of globalisation on brief Greek service encounters, Journal of Pragmatics 134: 163-172 (με την A. Eπίσης είναι συνεπιμελήτρια (με την P. Garcés-Conejos Blitvich) του διεθνούς περιοδικού Journal of Language Aggression and Conflict (Benjamins).

Maria Sifianou. Professor Emerita of the NKUA. Her main research interests include politeness phenomena and discourse analysis in an intercultural perspective. Her publications include the books Politeness Phenomena in England and Greece (Oxford University Press, 1992/1999/2002), Discourse Analysis (Leader Books, 2001/revised edn Hillside Press, 2006) and a number of articles in edited books and international journals. The most recent of these include: The impact of globalisation on brief Greek service encounters, Journal of Pragmatics 134: 163-172 (with A. Tzanne, 2018), Twitter, politeness and self-presentation, in P. Bou-Franch & P.
